The best kind of insomnia.

I’m too excited to sleep. 

Just checked my email after a night doing inventory at Nordstrom to find a message from a possible employer telling me they enjoyed my writing submission from the initial interview and want me to come in again tomorrow. 

The position is a creative writing internship for a startup in Downtown San Francisco that promotes healthy eating and living. I don’t even know how to describe how ecstatic I am to even be considered. Lately I’ve been second guessing whether or not my desire to pursue writing is just a waste, so making it through this preliminary process is that little bit of redemption I’ve needed to suppress my doubts and motivate me to continue. Even if this exact position doesn’t work out, I’m taking it as a sign that I’m not a complete failure and my degree isn’t useless. 

Hopefully they’ll allow me to reschedule the interview for Wednesday instead though since I can’t get out of my shift tomorrow. Let’s hope my availability won’t hurt my chances too much. Just another two weeks and I’m done with retail. I’m fully committing myself to writing and the love better be requited.
